While leaving for work on this cold 17 degree morning, I saw a lost puppy in the middle of the street down from my house, so I pulled over and got out. Keep in mind last time I did this, I ended up with a torn up house and a third dog. This time, I knew bringing him to work for the day wouldn't be an option like last time. So I put him in the Tahoe with me and drove to Dyer about a 1/2 mile down the road where there are many houses and other animals running around.
I had no option but to drop him off somewhere out of the street, into a save place and somewhere he may have a chance. I saw a home with their garage door open. There was another puppy in that garage and the only thing I could think is, this dog needs a friend and a warm place today!
So completely against what I was about to do, I dropped the dog off. I don't understand how in the world people can do this because here I was not knowing this dog for a whole 30 seconds and my heart was breaking. He didn't understand what was going on and I was helpless to him!
The other puppy ran out to meet us and welcomed the Lost Puppy into his garage for a warm place to stay. That made me feel better knowing I didn't just drive past the Lost Puppy with no where to go. Maybe he'll have a chance. Or maybe, I'll see him on my way home and provide a place until I can find that permanent home. Im so sad and just as lost as he is.
On the way to work all I could think about is how God says to do what we can do and He will do what we cannot do. So Im praying this is one of those times He sees what I could not do. I pray that Lost puppy is in Gods hands and He finds that puppy the perfect home.

Baby Bowen is a............

Well today was my 15 week OB appointment and I told Dr T we wouldn't be upset if he wanted to give it a shot at guessing the sex, though that was not what was intended to be done at the appointment today. He rolled in the Ultrasound machine trying to satisfy my curiosity. There stood my entourage waiting. Mom, Judy, Doug and I patiently waiting to see if he could determined the sex. While searching, he found the heart rate to be between 155-160 with lots of movement. It's already got traits of it's momma. Lot's of energy and on the GO. He said everything appeared to be going well. And I've only gained a total of 5lbs. Yay. Then.....He said, "well what are y'all hoping for?". Mom and I, of course, would love the little pageant girl and daddy over there was probably crossing his fingers for a Hunting buddy. However, most importantly we are all praying for the health of our baby. Boy or Girl we will be blessed with an amazing gift from God. It's just fun trying to find out what sex our little one will be. And for Me'maws sake...as everything she's bought so far has Pink in it.
Dr T wasn't confident enough to say Boy or Girl, but he did leave us with this...."Well for every 4 boy names you pick out, pick out 6 girl names!!!" He said there's a 60% chance of Girl, but not to go home and paint the room pink or anything. So what did me'maw do? She went to Baby Chic and bought a GIRL outfit. She seems pretty confident.
We will officially find out March 9, 2011 @ 800. They tried to give me a 1pm appointment. Are they crazy? Ive taken every test known to man and begged my OB Dr for an US @ 15 weeks.........I couldn't wait till 1pm that day. So 8:00 it is!!!! And not a minute later. LOL
We were also offered the blood test that determines the possible chances of Chromosomal defects and spinal abnormalities. Dr T said 90% of the time those that do come back with a possibility actually end up being okay. So we decided with that high of a chance for a False Positive, why do it? We trust in the Lord and know that He is going to bless this child. If there were anything wrong, it's all in Gods hands anyway. Why would we try to intervene on His plan? I've heard too many stories of False positives that cause worry and stress and that alone could do more harm than good. So with that, we're staying optimistic and praying for the health of a Girl or Boy. What ever God's Will, May it be Done! We trust in Him and know He already has a plan for that baby!
Any and all Prayers are appreciated. Please just pray specifically for a Healthy Baby, Pregnancy and Delivery. God Bless that Baby. He/She has many prayer warriors already.

Baby+First Movements
While getting ready this morning, I noticed a lot of activity in my belly. NO, not gas pains. This was totally different and very distinct. It was a flutter and rolling motion as if the baby was practicing it's gymnastics routine. This went on all day long. At lunch my mom was even able to feel a faint kick. From 7-3 ish it was pretty random. What an amazing feeling. The location was very high considering they are suppose to be lower (under the pelvic bone) at this point. Maybe there will be some high activity in the am at my 15 week appointment..... we're hoping we can talk Dr T into an Ultrasound to try and find out the sex. ;-) We'll see. Updates coming soon.... ;-)

Boy or Girl?
Now, on the other hand, my mom and I's pregnancy have been the same and I was a girl....No sickness, feel great and she says Im "carrying" a girl due to the shape of my belly and apparently with a boy you gain in other places?? I also recently dreamt we were having a girl. My mothers mom had 9 children with one set of twins. She was only sick with the boys and the twins. Granny said, " I always knew if it was a boy because I'd have a tooth ache". Well Im not counting on getting a tooth ache being Im a hygienist and the only potential oral condition I could get due to hormones would be pregnancy gingivitis or a pyrogenic granuloma caused from the hormones during pregnancy.... Doubt either will be an issue.
Another great genetic trait Im hoping to have inherited from my mom and granny is their elasticity in their skin. If my granny can have 9 kids and a set of twins with NO stretch marks...Im praying my skin is as good as hers!!!
I will keep you all posted on the News as are anxiously awaiting to find out! I've been really going over Names in my head....and I have SO many Girl names, that is going to be hard. If it's a boy, we know his first name will be Clayton.
Too be continued....

Miss America

Making it to Miss Arkansas twice was a huge accomplishment during my years of competing. Though that's as far as it took me, I've always loved and admired the Miss America System. This year, last weekend, I got to see one of my pageant girls make it all the way to the top. Aylse Eady was a strong contender from day one. She entertained at several pageants of mine and we recently hosted Miss Arkansas River together. I am very proud of her and her accomplishments. This proves that Pageants are not all about the competition itself.
The Miss America Organization is the largest scholarship organization for women in America. Many people stereotype the system thinking it's about looks or who has the most expensive dress. Im here to tell you that winning Miss UA Fort Smith alone provided me with over 15,000 in scholarship money, free tuition for the year and a wardrobe provided by the college to compete at the State level. Due to all the amazing volunteers, they make it possible for us small town college women to go far!

First Trimester

I've started this blog in order to keep up with my life and the life inside of me. Im 15 weeks pregnant today and Im going to get better at documenting my life for my family and future. I've always used photography as my way to document my story. Now it's time to start talking about it.
I have recently experienced abdominal ligament streaching. They say with your first child your muscles and ligaments aren't use to the streaching, so there will be occasional pain when sneezing or moving in a weird dierection too quickly.
After our two year anniversary. we decided it's time to expand our family. After halting the use of any form of BC, it was immediate that we found out we were expecting. Wow.....That happened very fast. When is really a good time? When are you really ever ready for this change? Well Im about to find out.
Our first Positive Test was on November 2, 2010.
Our first time to SEE the heart beat was December 1, 2010
Our first time to see the arms and legs moving was December 29, 2010
Our next appointment is January 26, 2011
The FIRST TRIMESTER:
The 1st trimester was Great. No morning sickness, no vomiting or crazy symptoms. As I was soaring through the "what to expect when expecting" book, I thought I was very abnormal condiering every other sentence focused on ways to ease your morning sickness. Apparently I'm one of 25% of women who didn't get sick during their 1st trimester. What a blessing.
Eating often is a must or I will get weak/queazy. I haven't had any weird cravings, as Im a picky eater already. So I'd say my pickiness has probably increased. The moment I found out I was pregnant, I stopped drinking diet coke. A typical day would consist of 3 or more soda's pre-pregnancy. Not now. It's about that baby. I have realized it's okay to have an occasional soda, but 2-3 per month as opposed to day. Im a pretty healthy eater anyway, but now Im really focusing on protein, Vit C and D and eating veggies and fruits. As natural as I can. Though America makes that hard, I've chosen to change my lifestyle for my family.

Im documenting my Belly Bump and will have that album together. But for now, I'll post my 15 week Baby Bump.
